Fishing Buntzen Lake in Port Moody, B.C.

We went and checked out Buntzen lake in Port Moody, B.C. today. This lake is stocked several times per year with catchable sized trout from the Fraser Valley Trout Hatchery. The lake itself is surprisingly deep, with some spots showing well over 200 feet as the lake is a reservoir for the B.C. Hydro Electric Power Authority. There are scenic trails that go all the way around the 4.3km long lake. As it is tucked up against the North Shore mountains, one should always be on the lookout for wildlife (it is not uncommon for black bear and cougar to be in the area) and having pepper spray for defense is a good idea. During Spring and Summer months the park and lake are very busy and one should plan on arriving early to be able to find parking.
