Split Pea & Ham Soup || Recipe Dash 60 Second Tutorials S1E7 Welcome back to another quick recipe tutorial! In this segment we will show you how to make a DELICIOUS Split Pea & Ham Soup using the Instant Pot.

Ingredients:

1 bag of Split Peas

2 Celery Stalks

2 Carrots

1 Clove of Garlic

2 Bay Leaves

6 Cups Low Sodium Chicken Broth or Vegetable Broth

1/2 Ham Hock

Salt & Pepper to taste

2 Tbsp Avocado Oil or Extra Virgin Olive Oil

 

Directions:

-Put Split Peas into bowl with cold water. Mix peas with your hand to make any shells float to surface and remove. Drain pease into a sieve.

-Dice up onion, carrots & celery.

-Press Garlic with garlic press or use a micro planer to form into paste

-Turn on Instant Pot in “Saute” mode. Once heated up, put oil into Instant Pot.

-Add onion and garlic, saute for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly.

-Add carrots and celery, sautee for 2-3 minutes while stirring.

-Add Bay Leaves -Add Broth and stir -Add Split Pease and stir

-Add Ham Hock to pot

-Cancel Saute Mode on Instant Pot, put Instant Pot lid on, set to seal

-Set Instant Pot to High Pressure Cook for 15 minutes

-Once timer goes off, allow Instant Pot to Naturally Release for 10 minutes

-Release any remaining pressure with valve, then once done remove lid

-Remove Ham Hock to a cutting board, remove Bay Leaves from soup mixture

-Using an Immersion Blender, blend soup mixture until reasonably smooth

-Remove Ham from the Hock, trim off excess fat and rind divide into 3rds

-Put 2/3 of Ham back into soup mixture and blend again until reasonable smooth

-Add final 1/3 of Ham and stir in with a spoon (do not blend again)

 

Dish this into a bowl and top off with croutons and enjoy!
